Supplies

Rectangle Platter

Liner Brush

Round Brush

Pencil

Marker

Tissue Paper

Colors

Polar Bear or Not Quite White

What A Yolk

Kermit

Key Lime Pie

Orange Crush

Red Blaze

Instructions

  1. Apply 3 coats of Polar Bear or Not Quite White to the entire platter (front & back). Then with a pencil, trace your template onto your tissue paper.

  2. Once the Polar Bear or Not Quite White is dry, place your tissue paper with the template on it onto your plate and center. Use the water-based marker to re-trace the template onto the platter. The marker will bleed through the tissue paper onto the platter. The marker will burn off in the kiln.

  3. Use a writer bottle or liner brush with Kermit for the stems. Then apply the multiple colors of dots using the hard end of your liner brush.

  4. Refer to the reference photo for placement of colors and dots for the left and right leaves. The left leaf has some dots overlapping blocks of color.

  5. The middle leaf is 3 coats (solid colors) of Orange Crush, Key Lime Pie, What A Yolk and Red Blaze. While the leaves are still a little damp, use a toothpick or etching tool to do the veins in the leaves (lightly scratching the paint away).

  6. Sponge Kermit onto the edges of the platter.
